GPU Trains Journalists on Civic Education and Elections Reporting

The Gambia Press Union has trained 30 journalists on civic education and election reporting in The Gambia. The journalists were drawn from both print, broadcast and online media.

The opening ceremony of the training was graced by the President of The Gambia Press Union, Mr. Bai Emil Touray. Mr. Samba Jallow, Minority Leader. Mr. Malick Jones, representing the Ministry of Information and Communications Infrastructure and the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Mr. Alieu Momarr Njie. They offered strong motivation and encouragement towards the initiative and it’s participants.

The lead trainer was Barrister Dawda Jallow, a former programs officer of the NCCE. Other trainers included Sang Mendy, Director of the GPU School

The training equipped participants with adequate skills to enable them to report in an accurate and professional manner.
