The Gambia Press Union (GPU) in collaboration with the Network of Community Radio Broadcasters on the 29th of May 2017 organized a 5-day training for community radio broadcasters on freedom of expression.
The training was funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a private, non-profit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world.The training brought together 25 participants from community radio stations across the country.
Delivering the opening remarks, Yusupha Bojang, the President of Association of Community Radio Broadcasters, described the training as timely, considering the change of government.
He said community radio stations would be expected to better serve their people and enhance democracy at the community level. He thanked the GPU and NED for having the foresight to improve the skills of community broadcasters on freedom of expression and for providing audio recording equipment which would go far in improving the effectiveness of community radio broadcasting.
